An artistic contribution to the project, CIRCE The Black Cut and a response to its Open Call 2015

A structurally simple piece that takes the call theme literally and using ‘Bees’ as the focal point for sonic description in both sound and movement around the sonic field. The theme ‘Freedom and Feeling’ was interpreted from the composers perspective in that the piece was constructed with the bees journey and travel in mind whilst drawing on the title of the piece as inspiration for the mood and feel of the final arrangement.

Technical Information:
A simple piece in structure yet sonically complex, produced using a Korg Volca Bass keyboard and an electric guitar. Recorded into a digital workstation and mixed to produce interesting sonic interactions. A fixed media piece that requires a simple stereo PA playback.

Short Bio:
A composer and sound artist working within a minimalist construct using of a variety of instruments and recording processes to manipulate sound.
Jules works with found sounds and traditional instruments and voices; often influenced by extra-musical sources such as world events or personal experiences. He enjoys the challenge of working across musical areas, and is just as comfortable working with electric guitars as scoring a piece for orchestral instruments.
